Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Senior Laboratory Specialist Molecular Analysis to join our dedicated lab team at our Rensselaer, NY site.
- The Starting Pay: $24 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
- The Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (some flexibility available).

The Role:
The Senior Laboratory Specialist performs a variety of molecular assays on animal samples and must be able to generate high-quality results in a timely manner. This individual should be comfortable working in a high-throughput environment and be able to use proper judgement to make technical decisions on assay performance issues.
Duties of the Senior Laboratory Specialist Molecular Analysis include the following:
- Performing various molecular assays (including, but not limited to gel- and capillary-based PCR, qPCR, FACS, SNP testing, and copy number analysis) on animal samples to obtain genotype/phenotype results;
- Independently assessing the quality of results and implications of anomalies and establishing appropriate follow-up, including technical corrections;
- Maintaining and monitoring equipment and supplies used in the laboratory;
- Coordinating and performing sample receipt, logging, processing, testing, and reporting of results;
- Scheduling work for self, such that quality results are obtained in a timely fashion with a minimum amount of retesting;
- Assisting with process improvement, including revisions to existing processes and modification of existing assays to use new platforms/technologies;
- Assisting in other laboratory areas, such as Health Testing or Genetic Monitoring, as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level.
- Minimum 1-year relevant experience and/or training.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Strong analytical skills required.
