Location: Join our dedicated operations team in this hybrid position at our NY sites in Germantown, NY and Rensselaer, NY. This role will work approximately 50% onsite and remote each week.

Start Date: This position will have a targeted start date the beginning of January 2025.

Pay Range: $150,000 - $175,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions, with this the upper end of the range is not always likely to be offered.

The Role:
We are seeking a Director of Engineering and Maintenance to oversee the management of our company's fixed assets in accordance with our business strategy and operational vision. This role involves three primary responsibilities: acquiring and integrating new assets into our operations, developing, and controlling our maintenance systems for existing assets, and executing preventive and corrective maintenance measures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and demonstrated experience in asset management in an industrial/manufacturing setting to ensure the efficiency and longevity of our assets in line with our strategic roadmap. Additionally, the role entails maintaining assets to a high reliability standard, supporting operational objectives, and providing direction for process, equipment, and infrastructure improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and long-term cost-effectiveness.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements, and manages the capital asset approval process.
  • Develops, manages, and supervises execution of capital investment project plans to guarantee on time, on budget and on quality delivery of the assets.
  • Actively participates in developing the short- and long-term capital budget investment plan, together with Finance and Operations Planning.
  • Develops, implements, and operates best in class maintenance processes and systems including but not limited to CMMS and TPM.
  • Drives high reliability standards of assets at all the business sites, to allow production to achieve the required levels of production, quality, and cost.
  • Maintains the integrity of assets through time.
  • Manages resources to provide the technical training and development needed in the team to achieve results needed.
  • Develops, implements manages and communicates success metrics for the areas of responsibility, including but not limited to Gantt charts achievement, budget achievements, spare part inventory accuracy, number of failures, equipment downtime, average time between failures, compliance to preventive maintenance program, expense controls, etc.
  • Creates and maintains a culture that stresses safety as a priority above all work to be done.
  • Manages a team and provides strategic direction, clear objectives, and development opportunities, as well as feedback on improvement needed and progress made on plans and metrics.
  • Interact and coordinate cross-functionally across the enterprise to ensure alignment between stakeholders on every project or issue.
  • Responsible for financial planning and management of the maintenance expense budget.
  • Maintains a presence at the production, construction and/or installation areas.
  • Directs a team of >25 specialized highly technical team members with >5 director reports.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level required. An Industrial Engineering degree could be considered if experience in maintenance is exhaustive. Master's degree is desirable.
  • Experience in the management of a professional staff and senior-level decision making.
  • 15+ years in any field in management of any area in Manufacturing-Operations.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Industrial Maintenance.
  • 10+ years managing a highly technical team of 20+ members.
  • 5+ years of experience Leading Industrial capital projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with maintenance of Steam Boilers, Electric substations, HVAC systems.
  • 5+ years of experience using CMMS software.
  • Experience implementing CMMS is highly desirable.
  • Ability to track progress of projects using Gant charts and using data and metrics to evaluate progress of the maintenance area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to listen empathetically, understand information presented by people with different communication styles and different points of view, and mediate disagreements.
  • Experience negotiating services and capital project with Contractors.
  • Experience in developing, interpreting, or changing organizational policies or procedures.
Travel:
Frequent travel is required, generally multiple trips each month.
