Taconic Biosciences is a leading provider of genetically engineered research models and services, specializing in genetically engineered mouse and rat models, microbiome research, and immuno-oncology models. Quality is the forefront of everything we do. We strive for excellence daily with the quality processes we have pioneered.

We are currently seeking a Scientific Solutions Consultant to join our global team. This role is ideal for a PhD-level scientist who is passionate about applying their expertise in a commercial setting—helping researchers design and implement high-impact in vivo studies using Taconic’s innovative animal models and services.
You will report to ‘Associate Director Scientific Solutions’ and be part of a global team of around 10 members.

Role Summary
As a Scientific Solutions Consultant, you will serve as the scientific interface between Taconic and its customers. You will lead in articulating the value proposition of Taconic’s models and services, contribute to custom project design, and drive market adoption of key Taconic products in strategic growth markets.

This role supports the sales cycle from lead qualification through closing, providing scientific and technical expertise to ensure alignment between customer needs and Taconic solutions and blends science, communication, and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Articulate the offerings and value proposition of Taconic to current and prospective customers and to internal stakeholders.
  • This is a remote role, but it requires frequent travel: multiple trips each month and primary job responsibility includes traveling. Overnight travel is required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to bring in new customers and capture market share, expanding overall customer base and utilization of Taconic products.
  • Actively support Sales in developing territory strategy, technical prospecting (including but not limited to conference preparation/attendance, aligning prospective customers with Taconic solutions, etc.), and representing Taconic and the value proposition to new and existing customers; and specifically take the lead as subject matter expert in such discussions.
  • Participate in the identification, development, and implementation of new products and services.
  • Responsible for ensuring that project designs are well-conceived, well-designed, and that risks for failure are mitigated to the fullest extent possible.
  • Ensure that the possibility of success is fully and effectively articulated to the customer, that the customer’s needs (regarding deliverables, timeline and budget) are addressed, and that their expectations are likewise aligned.
  • Holding a “gate keeper” function to ensure that customer proposals/requests are declined when appropriate and justified on the grounds of our capabilities and possibility of success.

Who You Are

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in biology, chemistry, animal science, genetics or a related scientific field or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
  • Experience in the principles and methodology of experimental science (preferably biology) and laboratory practice, and in the development, execution and leading of specialized projects in a technical field.
  • Strong foundation in in vivo research, ideally with experience in translational science, disease modeling, or drug development.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a solution-oriented mindset and customer-first approach.
  • Prior experience in a scientific consulting, technical sales, or project design role is a plus—but not required.
  • Preferred candidate is located on the West Coast
  • Level is determined based on skills directly related to the role

What We Offer

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
