The Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our global finance team in this full time, paid, summer internship. This will be a remote internship, qualified candidates should reside within a 3-hour drive from Germantown, NY or Rensselaer, NY.
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range.
The Internship: As an accounting intern at Taconic Biosciences, one will be able to further develop skill in generally accepted accounting principles, teamwork in a professional environment, and data analysis. We will provide opportunity for this internship to collaborate with peers while performing accounting transactions and working on a project that will bring value to the finance department and expand an intern’s skills needed for a career in the accounting field.

An Accounting Intern can expect to:
- Shadow members of the accounting department as they perform their duties.
- Work with Accounting software.
- Learn how to work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the organization
- Assist with various areas of the company’s accounting processes, recording journal entries, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, and balancing sheet workpapers.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Support ad hoc financial information requests and analyses and other special projects as assigned.
- Gain exposure to financial statements including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Support the month-end close procedures.
- Inventory accounting
- Learn how the company tracks and manages the raw material and finished goods inventory to ensure that the company's financial statements accurately reflect the value of its inventory and cost of goods sold.
- Participate in reconciliations and mid-year standard cost calculations.
- Shadow the cost allocation processes.
- Fixed asset accounting
- Learn how to record and manage the company’s fixed assets.
- Track capital expenditure projects.
- Capitalize assets, dispose of assets, and depreciate assets.
- Learn bank reconciliations.
- Gain experience in accounts receivable aging reports, journal entries, balance sheet workpapers and reconciliations.
- Networking opportunities within our global organization.

- Complete an end of summer presentation on the knowledge and skills you’ve obtained, with provided exposure to leadership
Eligibility:
- To be eligible for this opportunity you must be enrolled in an academic program in pursuit of an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Completion of at least 1 semester of related courses required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
