Are you someone who thrives on precision and communication, and looking for a flexible, short-term role? We’re seeking a part-time Buyer to join our Procurement team for about 10 weeks to help manage purchasing activity and supplier coordination.
The Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking a part-time temporary Buyer to join our dedicated Procurement team in this approximate 10-week assignment. This position is primarily remote, with occasional onsite work. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance (around 45 minutes) of our Germantown, NY facility.
The Pay Range: $25 - $28. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered.
The Schedule: Two days per week, 8am-4:30pm
The Role:
The Buyer is responsible for assessing the completeness of Purchase Requisitions; converting Requisitions into Purchase Orders; placing Purchase Orders with suppliers; arranging for freight and delivery; and communication back to the requisitioner. Problem resolution and follow-up interacting with Receiving Department, Accounts Payable, suppliers, and common carriers. Data entry, attention to detail, expert organization and effective communication are a must for this role.

Core Responsibilities:
- Understand and comply with all Purchasing policies, regulations, and SOPs.
- Evaluate all requisitions for completeness of specification, approval, tax status.
- Convert Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders and place with suppliers.
- Expedite orders as needed to support the business.
- Follow-up on problem resolution efforts with end-users, suppliers, Accounts Payable, and Receiving.
- Support Quality Assurance with regard to non-conformance issues – arranging for returns, credits, and replacement materials.
- Experience in a technical or specialized field requiring extended training to perform a wide range of assignments and resolve non-standard problems.
- Minimum 2 years’ of relevant experience and/or training.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to learn use new applications as the need arises.
- Knowledge of MRP systems such as Oracle or NetSuite is necessary for this position.
