Taconic Biosciences is seeking a part-time Veterinarian (m/f/d) with expertise in generation of genetically modified mouse models to join our passionate, close-knit, dedicated team.

We are seeking a part-time (16 hours per week) Veterinarian (m/f/d) on a permanent position to join our passionate, close-knit, dedicated team in our Leverkusen location.

Your tasks include: 
  • You are responsible for the health and well-being of our animals (mice) as a responsible veterinarian within the framework of animal care.
  • You will advise the management and the managers of the laboratory animal facilities on animal welfare issues (e,g, surgical procedures, anesthesia, analgesia, etc.) and biosecurity
  • You are the interface to the authorities and take care of the corresponding duties to provide information.
  • You pass on information to the technical staff and participate in the internal training of our employees.
  • You will manage the veterinary pharmacy.
  • You will run the statutory meetings of the Animal Welfare Body.
  • Support scientific staff in writing applications for the authorities.
  • Work closely with the AWO and take on the role as Deputy AWO once onboarded and holding the required qualifications.  
Your profile:
  • You have successfully completed your studies in veterinary medicine and are licensed as a veterinarian in Germany.
  • Further training as a specialist veterinarian for laboratory animal science is desirable but not a prerequisite if you are willing to undergo further training (EU-function ABD).
  • You have knowledge of the relevant laws, regulations and orders for animal husbandry and animal experiments in a research context
  • You have a good command of German and English to be able to communicate with our local and internationally operating team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
