The Location: Join our dedicated Application Sciences team in this remote position servicing our customers in the New England Region. Ideal candidates will reside in the following states: MA, RI, CT, NH, NY, VT. Consideration will be given for candidates in other US states. 
This position is not eligible for sponsorship of US Citizenship. 

The Pay Range: $110,000 - $120,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered.

The Role: 

As a Field Applications Scientist, you will work closely with product management and account managers to support Taconic customers before, during, and after a sale. This is a highly collaborative, team-based position interacting with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have an advanced scientific background, and in vivo rodent model experience with emphasis in immunology, oncology, immuno-oncology, neurodegenerative disease, metabolic disease, or related fields. Since this role interacts frequently with multiple internal and external stakeholders, highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are a must. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Provide application support across multiple scientific disciplines as they pertain to in vivo rodent studies in drug discovery and development 

  • Provide scientific education and training on Taconic products through various channels (e.g. workshops, seminars, webinars, teleconferences, scientific conferences, journal articles, etc.) 

  • Develop customer relationships by providing technical consultations and support, establishing collaborations, and understanding customer needs and requirements 

  • Troubleshoot scientific and application problems and make product recommendations 

  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to develop and implement territory plans by providing scientific and market expertise 

  • Contribute to the development of new products and applications 

  • Contribute scientific content to support new marketing assets for key product applications 

  • Assist in technical training for sales and support personnel 

  • Contribute to other internal and external projects to support key business objectives 

Education and Experience: 

  • PhD required (DVM considered) in life sciences or related field, combined with 4+ years of postdoctoral research and/or related experience in the life science field. 

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with therapeutic or scientific disciplines such as immunology, oncology, infectious disease, inflammation, neurodegeneration and familiarity with the assays and models used in discovery in these areas.   

  • Knowledge of pre-clinical in vivo applications used in pharmaceutical, biotech or academic fields. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to effectively present information and address complex scientific questions through proven presentation and writing skills. 

  • A strong experimentalist with experience in designing and interpreting in vivo rodent research studies, preferably as these pertain to preclinical drug development. 

  • Builds long lasting relationships and understands the value of animal models to research.  

  • Is independent, self-driven, approachable, and engaging 

Travel: 

Frequent travel is required, generally multiple trips each month and the primary job responsibility requires traveling.
